Was having an issue installing Microsoft Data Access Component (MDAC) 2.8 the other day, and got the following error message:
1. When installed using pre-built installer: The following components failed to install (Process exited with code -2147467259)
2. When installed using the setup file (mdac_typ.exe): This setup does not support installing on this operating system. 
After Google-ing around, found out that the issue was caused by the installer not being able to upgrade existing MDAC installed in the computer from version 2.5 to 2.8 (why am I not surprised when this is something from M$?) Resolution? None... Just check if the application can run with MDAC 2.5, and not install 2.8 if not necessary.
