Been waited ages for this hack. Ok, not that long, it's after I started using my iPhone in Malaysia and found out all the issues with Turbo Sim. I wasn't planning to install it at first as it is still in the beta stage. But I guess it's just faith. 2 days ago my phone crash on me because I was too naughty, trying to mess around with the files of the phone in the backend, yup, belakang mari. And I thought that since I'm going to restoring the phone, might as well upgrade the firmware from 2.1 to 2.2, and give yellowsn0w a shot.

OK, enough of story telling. Let's go into the details.

I'm now using yellowsn0w 0.9.6. And it's working with Maxis in Malaysia on iPhone 3G. Unlike the previous versions, 0.9.6 is quite stable. All you need to do is to jailbreak your phone, install yellowsn0w from Cydia, restart the phone with the SIM card in it and WALAH~! There's no need to re-insert the card, reset Airplane Mode, reset network settings and all those shits. WIFI, EDGE and 3G are all fine. The only limitation as of now is that, you can't turn on the SIM lock. I guess that's why it is still in beta. Other then that, everything works like a champ.

Now, I'm not going to write a step-by-step instructions on how to upgrade the firmware, jailbreak and install yellowsn0w 'cause you can find tons of website doing that already. I'm sure my friend Google is very willing to help you in this.

No signal from maxis 017 kjinn 2009-01-25 13:37:13 Hi, I am a maxis subscriber and have run yellowsn0w successfully. But I am still not receiving any signals from maxis. I have tried rebooting, toggling airplane and 3g, but still no. Any help on this? What did u mean by "The only limitation as of now is that, you can't turn on the SIM lock"? Does this mean u dont have to enter pin-code when u reboot? If so, how do i turn it off? Thanks in advance.

RE: No signal from maxis 017 Fong 2009-02-03 01:49:02 Which version of yellowSnow are you using? From 0.9.6 and above, you shouldn't need to toggle the airplane or 3G already. It's just install-n-play. What I meant was, you can't have SIM PIN on for your simcard, if not, it wouldn't work. You can change the setting by going to: Settings->Phone->SIM PIN Hope this helps.
